Ruler Templates themselves are not new and there are many available in all shapes and sizes. What makes the Quilting Magic Ruler Sets so unique is that they are block size applicable rather than linked to a specific pattern, meaning you have the ability to use them in any and every quilt pattern you buy or even those you want to create.
Quilting Magic started with a 9″ Ruler Template Set because 9″ Blocks are THE perfect size – not too big and not too small. 9″ blocks allow you to use a variety of blocks across a variety of finished quilt sizes but the maths is hard!
Imagine being able to create 72 widely known quilt blocks plus any more you can possibly think of with just one set of Ruler Templates. This product is the one tool you need in your quilting room to start creating easily and finishing your tops much faster.
The traditional method for many of the block units – like Flying Geese, Half Square Triangles and Square on Point – waste fabric as you need to cut oversized squares only to trim away excess. If you’re like me trimming is a tedious task I don’t enjoy AND presents a risk – I don’t know how many times I’ve accidently ended up trimming too much and ended up with a smaller size unit than I need… OR my points don’t line up perfectly in the finished block.
The Quilting Magic Ruler Template sets solves that – Each set will include all the various basic shapes you need to make a variety of blocks. Any included Triangles have trimmed corners that help you line up your seams perfectly PLUS being clear acrylic they are absolutely perfect for fussy cutting!

What block sizes are available?
Quilting Magic being a small, one-person, business is slowly building our product range. At present the 9″ Ruler Template is the only set available. It’s perfect for making the Quilting Magic Stash Buster Quilt 1 which is the inspiration behind the Ruler Sets.
The Stashbuster Quilt 1 pattern has 48 different block instructions that use the 9″ Ruler Template set as well as 48 block instructions that use the traditional method! After this quilt I still had loads of scraps and a whole new set of ideas so a second pattern is in the works and a 9″ Extension Pack is coming soon to go with it! You can preorder yours today.

How do they work?
The Acrylic Rulers are hard wearing and durable, made from 4mm thick clear Acrylic. Each individual template is the size you need for various 9″ block units but you may find they are useful beyond that as well.
Mix and match the pieces to create the block unit you need. Simply place your ruler template down on your fabric and use a rotary cutter along the edge. Being clear acrylic you can carefully position your template over the section of fabric you want and use the 1/4 inch seam guide to ensure its centred perfectly when you finish construction.
